Update preview: May 2016

Just a quick preview of what will be in today's update, which goes up at http://www.edencottageyarns.com at 12 noon UK time.  Firstly, we've not been able to get our superwash wool/nylon blend, Tempo 4ply, for absolutely ages, but finally it is back. Here's one of each colour: There's everybody's favourite: Titus 4ply. Here's one of each colour: Another one that's returned after not being available for a while is Pendle 4ply, which is soft, squidgy merino. It's technically machine washable, though I would really recommend that you try it. Here's one of each colour: I've also done a limited quantity...

Drachenfels: a three colour shawl

So... Drachenfels by the lovely Melanie Berg - it's fair to say I'm late to the party on this. But I'm so glad I finally made it. You can see my Ravelry project page (it's linked to the pattern page too) HERE for a start. I found this pattern easy, relaxing, and addictive. Normally, I'm bored of projects by about 70% of the way through (probably because I'm usually sample knitting and need to hurry up), but despite being largely garter stitch this did hold my attention right to the end. Kate's original sample (in the Ravelry pics) was done in BFL Sock in Bluebell, but this sample of mine is done in Milburn 4ply. We still have some skeins of Rust for sale with a clearance discount (because although I adore this...

This week..

Since this week has been particularly busy and stressful, but has included so much yarn, I thought I'd best share it with the world. It'd be rude not to, really. It's been gloriously sunny for a lot of the week. I've been dyeing a large volume of yarn, as well as dealing with a load of other stuff. My Instagram feed does feature the pretty stuff, but behind the scenes life is full of the usual pressures, plus there's all the hard work that running any business involves. That's Titus 4ply in Grace, above. It's a new shade of light...

Acer: a crocheted shawl

Today I thought I'd talk about Acer by Joanne Scrace of The Crochet Project. I know many of you will recognise it as I was showing my progress on Facebook and Instagram in March whilst I was making it. It took a while actually; I didn't realise why until I blocked it and saw how big it is.  I usually wear shawls back to front like so..   Anyhow, Acer is my first bit of proper crochet.. I've made amigurumi and several ripple blankets but that's it. So it felt like a bit of a daunting project, but I just...
