Magic Circles crocheted scarf by Jane Crowfoot: Yarn pack & pattern - VERSION TWO

Yarn pack and pattern for the Magic Circles crocheted scarf (or wrap/shawl - whatever you want to call it!) by Jane Crowfoot. This is SUCH a beautiful pattern - Jane has used my yarn palette to create just the most perfect project for it. She’s combined the colours really cleverly, and the tiny tassels are the icing on the cake. I honestly can’t gush enough about it. 🤣🥰

VERSION TWO:

We've already swapped out Autumn Fields (which is discontinued) for either Compost or Black Tulip, but thanks to delays in production (pandemic-related) we were also out of Althaea. I thought it would be a great shame to not be able to sell these beautiful kits because of that (and we get so many queries about them) and so I came up with a couple of colour options to replace Althaea too. Althaea is now back in stock (HOORAY!) but I like giving you options so I'm leaving these alternatives available for you! Please see the pictures for the samples that I've made showing how the colours work together. Just note that the scarf shown is in the original colours - I've left it up so that you can still see how the project looks, but the colours are different.

So your options now are:

- Compost instead of Autumn Fields and Natural instead of Althaea (creates a gorgeous light, dusky palette)

- Black Tulip instead of Autumn Fields and Rain instead of Althaea (creates a more cool-coloured palette)

Introduction by Jane:

“I love looking at how shapes fit together and have wanted to create a tessellating circle design for some time. Circular motifs can be tricky to fit together and it is common to find the circular shape becomes slightly distorted when motifs are pieced together, so rather than create motifs that are square or octagonal, I designed cross-shaped infill pieces that protect the shape of the large circles.

This pattern was originally written for a blanket, but when I saw the beautiful range of shades available in Eden Cottage Milburn DK range I knew I had to make a scarf version”. Jane has published a YouTube video explaining the joining technique and you can see it HERE.

We recommend that if you are planning to use a dark colour with a pale colour to make a swatch with them both and wash it to make sure no colour contamination occurs before starting your project. Hot water in particular can make colours run; if in doubt use cool water and no soap/detergent.
