Hardcastle by Louise Tilbrook: knitted mitts kit
This kit is to make Hardcastle, which are knitted fingerless mitts. One kit will make one pair of mitts. The kit includes two balls of Milburn DK in your chosen colour, the print pattern which has a pdf download code on and a printed ECY cotton project bag.
About the pattern
Quick to work up, these fingerless mitts are ideal for a gift or as a treat for yourself. The bold, yet simple to knit cable runs up the back of the hand and the ribbed palm ensures a good fit with plenty of stretch. The pattern is available in three sizes and two lengths giving added versatility to this fantastic knit.
Materials
The pattern calls for Whitfell DK but this kit contains one 50g ball (for Small or two 50g balls for Medium/Large) of Milburn DK instead which works just as well.
Samples shown use Whitfell DK in Lichen and Milburn DK in Fern.
Needles and Accessories
One set of 3mm / US2.5 double pointed needles (or the size needed to obtain the correct gauge).
Note: Whilst cabling can be done without a needle it is recommended that you use one here due to the complexity of the 5-stitch cables.
Notions
Two stitch markers, waste yarn, cable needle, DPNs or preferred method of small circumference knitting.
