Royal Mile Shawl knitting pattern and add-on kit

This is the Royal Mile Kit Add-On... simply choose your yarn and add it to your basket, along with this add-on, and I will make it up into a kit for you - it will include the pattern and an ECY printed cotton project bag.

Please note that we will only post out this add-on as part of a full kit, ie. with the yarn bought for the shawl (eg 400m per shade).

This shawl continues the trend for Justyna to work with ECY to produce a shawl for release at Edinburgh Yarn Festival.

Pattern information:

Royal Mile Shawl by Justyna Lorkowska begins at the center and is worked outwards to the border. It is worked in sections, alternating two stitch patterns: garter stitch and simple arrow lace. Almost all sections incorporate short rows which give it an asymmetrical shape. The sample shawl is worked in two contrasting colors but would look equally beautiful when knit in a single color.
It’s fully charted and has written instructions.

One: approx. 200.5 cm/79” wide and 40 cm/15.5” long at center.

Eden Cottage Yarns Bowland 4ply (formerly known as BFL Sock) (100% Bluefaced Leicester wool; 400m/440y per 100g); 1 skein MC and 1 skein CC. Sample shown in Cromer Pier (MC) and Tide (CC).

3.25 mm/US #3 circular needle (100 cm/40” long).

2 stitch markers, tapestry needle for weaving.

22 sts and 44 rows = 10 cm/4” in Garter st measured flat after wet blocking.
The gauge isn’t crucial on this project, but differences will affect the finished size as well as the required yardage so I strongly recommend making a swatch to adjust the needle sizes.
