Sun and Shower by Jayalakshmi: knitted shawl add-on kit

This is the Sun and Shower Add-On Kit... simply choose your yarn and add it to your basket, along with this add-on, and I will make it up into a kit for you - it will include the pattern, an ECY printed cotton project bag, and a sachet of Soak (random scent).

Please note that we will only post out this add-on as part of a full kit, ie. with the yarn bought for the shawl (eg 800m of laceweight yarn).

This kit is to make Sun and Shower by Jayalakshmi, which is a knitted shawl. The kit includes the yarn required (one skein of Titus Lace in Sunrise), the print pattern which has a pdf download code on, a printed ECY cotton project bag, and a sachet of Soak no rinse wool wash.

About the pattern

The Sun and Shower Shawl is a circular shawl, knit in Titus Lace colourway Sunrise. The shawl is worked in the round from the center out, in one piece, beginning with a circular cast on. The lace patterns are both written and charted.

The shawl is the second of the four-shawl collection Four Seasons. This Summer shawl draws its name and inspiration from William Wordsworth’s poem “Three Years She Grew.” The circular shawl knit in the Sunrise shade represents the Sun and hence nature. In this poem, the poet personifies nature. He points out to the great influence and power that nature can have on human life. The poem teaches us the universal truth about the circle of life, that is - we are from nature, we are sustained by nature, and we all have to return to nature. So, in effect, there is no loss of human life after death.

What is it?

The Four Seasons Collection Subscription is an exciting collaboration with Jayalakshmi of Apoorva Designs. Four Seasons is a collection of four shawls/wraps, one for each season, inspired by Jaya’s love for simple and meaningful poetry, by some of her favourite poets. Each poem and the associated design celebrate the season while also conveying a deeper meaning and philosophy of life. All four designs use Eden Cottage Yarns in a variety of quantities, bases and weights to beautifully capture the spirit of both the poem and the season

Jaya is a knitwear designer, and mother of twin girls living with her husband in India. She believes in designing simple yet elegant knits that are as fun to knit as they are comfortable to wear. Jaya's designs have always beautifully showcased our yarns and this collection certainly didn't disappoint.
