New Milburn 4ply™️/DK™️ colourway reveal: Buttermilk

New Milburn 4ply/DK colourway reveal: Buttermilk It’s late June 2026 and we’ve just had a particularly mega heatwave, so what better time to release a brand new colourway of Milburn 4ply™️ and Milburn DK™️?!  The timing wasn’t deliberate - I had to wait to run out (or almost) of one of the two discontinued colours before replacing it with a new one, and the turnaround time on these yarns is approximately 10-12 weeks, so I have to accept that it just arrives whenever it arrives. In an ideal world I’d get samples and knit and crochet things up with them...

Fuzzy Ribbed Scarf knitting pattern

It’s just a basic fuzzy scarf, but it’s very satisfying to make and deliciously cosy to wear. The shops are always full of cosy fuzzy scarves over winter and for all my years of knitting and crochet I’ve never actually made one, so here we go. The fabric ideally wanted to be symmetrical, and I really fancied making it sparkly as well as fuzzy. This also presented a good opportunity to see how much scarf I could get out of one skein of 4ply (400m) whilst making it just wide enough to be cosy but not so wide that I’d...

Why we prefer PayPal payments these days..

I offer lots of different payment options on the website and I know that these days most of us have our cards saved to our devices so we're generally using card payments. But.. Why? Because card payments are held by Shopify (my webhost - one that's widely used these days)...

How do hand dyed yarn updates work?

You may have seen me write things like ‘Pendle Sport is now updated’ or ‘shop update happening’ and wondered what this means.. Hand dyed yarn comes in small batches as it is dyed by me in my garden shed here in Yorkshire. This is what is so unique about it; but it does mean that batches can be in stock then disappear quite quickly. And once they’re gone they’re gone.  So what happens behind the scenes?  Well firstly I have to buy the undyed yarn, so I usually buy 5kg+ of each base which splits nicely into ten batches of...

A note about how variageted yarns knit/crochet up

A couple of people commented yesterday asking how this yarn (Pendle Aran in Leaf Piles, below) knits up, and I thought I'd make a full post with my answer.  There's not much point with variegated skeins as its appearance will vary from skein to skein and depending your stitch pattern, the shape of what you're making, your tension, and so on. I completely appreciate why you're asking - honestly I do, but you could knit say a triangular shawl up in one skein and not get any pooling for example, but then you could knit a hat with a different...
