Hayton 4ply: Projects and Patterns using our merino, cashmere, nylon blend

It occurred to us that it might be really useful to have an ECY way to browse patterns and projects made using specific yarns, for inspiration and ideas. It's one of those things where once you think of it it seems blatantly obvious 🙈🤣  Just FYI - there are no links to Ravelry here. We've linked to patterns and projects that are available to purchase/view elsewhere.  Hayton 4ply is a beautiful mix of smooth, bouncy merino, a little nylon to make it more hard wearing, and a dash of cashmere for the ultimate luxury. This three-fold yarn spun to a 4ply...

Swainby Hat - a quick easy hat knit!

Ever since the release of the Swainby Cowl, I have had a matching hat design in my head. You might be surprised at how much work a seemingly simple hat design requires! It's taken lots of tweaking but we are finally all sorted I think. Where the Swainby Cowl was made for three fingering weight yarns, this hat has been designed with one skein of aran weight yarn in mind but you can of course use three fingering weight yarns held together for this project as well if you fancy it. If they're only available on Ravelry we will say that, but not link to it.    The first part of this blog post will give you patterns that specifically call for Titus Lace and the second part shows you our projects using this yarn....

Have you seen a pack of five skeins in a fade set and been tempted but don't know what to use them for? Well look no further... here's some pattern inspiration for you!   Fading Point by Joji Locatelli  The original pattern that inspired us to make five skein fade sets in the first place!     Starting Point by Joji Locatelli The precursor to Fading Point. This might not be as obvious with how to use a fade set but could look very striking. It is only available on Ravelry at the moment. Here's how it looks with five colours (but not a fade):...

Swainby Cowl: a versatile wardrobe staple

This cowl idea stemmed from me wanting to make something squishy for around my neck using three strands of yarn together, but also not wanting to leave much (if anything) left over. I pored over stitch textures and options for ages as I knew I wanted something fairly simple which would allow the marled colours to shine, but also which wouldn’t be too boring to knit. There are already loads of (lovely) patterns in traditional fisherman’s rib so this is a different take on that. The full-sized cowl is designed to loop three times snug around the neck if you’ve...
