Featured pattern: Bothel

With yet another grey day outside, I thought I'd talk about another pattern from our cosy Drift Collection. This is Bothel, by the lovely Tracey Todhunter. It's crocheted, but if you're primarily a knitter please don't be put off by that - many of our testers were not really crocheters, and got on fine with this. It looks a bit daunting, but it's really not at all! The fabric that the stitches create is really nice and squishy and cosy - it's just perfect for today. Also, I'd like to point out that as well as a bobble, Tracey included...

Featured pattern: Swale

Swale (by the lovely Karie Westmann) is something you might need today.. On this cold, wet, grey November day, and big cosy shawl around the neck is just the ticket - I'm wearing my Worsted Boxy, but I find it leaves the back of my neck cold so I often wear shawls too. Today, it's the red Swale shown in the photos below. Here are some links for you Pattern page on Ravelry Buy the Ebook on Ravelry Buy the single print pattern Buy the print book  Yarn is here And here's the Lookbook (which is basically a book preview)...

Featured FO: Hut 8

Today I thought I'd show you my lovely Hut 8 cardigan. I finished it ages ago (in April), have worn it loads, and finally got these pics when we were in Ireland in June (and it's now November, ahem)..        This is pertinent now because Askham 4ply is currently 25% off (I haven't decided how long for yet), and the mild weather means it's still good for 4ply garments! I just liked not having to alternate skeins, which is lazy I know. This colour way is Crocosmia - it goes with a surprising range of other wardrobe staples.    ...

A handknit hat: Lapsang

Today I thought I'd talk a little about Lapsang; a pattern by Clare Devine, as part of the Tea Party collection. She has also blogged today about the story of this lovely pattern HERE. This is my second Lapsang (Raveled HERE); it took me about four hours to make.. So it's one that you can come back to over and over again. Need a gift for tomorrow? Cast on tonight, and you can have it blocked overnight, ready for tomorrow. Awesome! The yarn I used is the same as in my previous post (and I'm sure will feature in many, many...

FO: Tailcoat

So this is the main reason for our little soirée around Kirkstall Abbey yesterday: to get some pics of my Isis Tailcoat. It's a Purl Alpaca design - HERE on Ravelry, which I made to wear at a winter (on the Thames) wedding, and a ball the week after. You can see my Ravelry project page for it HERE if you should fancy having a nosey.        The yarn is Whitfell Chunky in Steel, which is HERE (with an automatic 10% off more than 500g). Actually the pattern is meant to be worked in DK on 6mm needles, but...
