Dufton Hat knitting pattern and add-on kit

This is the Dufton Add-On Kit... simply choose your yarn and add it to your basket, along with this add-on, and I will make it up into a kit for you - it will include a digital download of the pattern (download link sent out by email) and an ECY printed cotton project bag.

Please note that we will only post out this add-on as part of a full kit, ie. with the yarn bought for the hat (eg one 100g skein).

This kit is to make Dufton by Victoria Magnus, which is a knitted hat using chunky yarn. One 100g skein will make one hat and bobble (unless you make the hat bigger).

Pattern information:

The soft yarn and richly textured lattice cable pattern combine to make a wonderfully warm and cosy hat. Perfect for keeping snug on a cold winters day. Add some fun with a big fluffy pom pom or mix it up with a two colour version.

Materials:
Eden Cottage Yarns, Pendle Chunky (100% superwash extrafine merino)
(100m/ 109yds per 100g skein)

Two colour version
Colourway: Hot Choc (background colour) – 1 x 100g skein
Colourway: Starling (contrast colour) – 1 x 100g skein

One colour version
Colourway: Vintage Ribbon – 1 x 100g skein

5mm / US 7 needles; dpns and 40cm (16in) circular / 80cm (32in) circular needle for magic loop (or size required to obtain gauge)
Cable needle (optional)
Notions, stitch marker, tapestry needle, scissors

Finished measurements:
Circumference 44cm (17.25 in)
Height 21cm (8.25 in)

To fit:
Head Circumference: 43cm (17 inches) to 56cm (22 inches)
The stitch pattern used makes this hat very stretchy.

Gauge
16 sts and 20 rows to 10cm (4in) over 2 x 2 rib stitch on 5mm needles after blocking
18 sts and 20 rows to 10cm (4in) over cable stitch on 5mm needles after blocking

Note on gauge: This hat is worked on a tight gauge, which is made tighter by the cables. This produces a very thick and warm fabric. If you are a tight knitter, try going up a needle size, and vice versa if you are a loose knitter. Although we normally recommend 6mm needles for this yarn this project calls for 5mm needles to create a sturdy fabric.
