Project report: boxy sweater using five different yarns

I thought I'd show off my latest colour-block boxy jumper and give you some info about how it's made, and the yarns used.  Before my recent foot surgery (in August 2021) we were in self-isolation for a few days (of course!) so I spent the time furiously preparing projects for when I got home. I knew I'd want simple things that I could just pick up, and I thought if I left a few things just ready to finish and sew up then it would create some easy wins for myself that would make me feel accomplished. It totally worked...

Project: An unexpected collection of Nimbus Cowls

This is a little tale about a couple of dog walkers who are also knitters and really really love knitting and wearing cowls…    The thing is with cowls is that when you’re dogwalking and you bend down to clip the dogs leads on etc a cowl won’t flap about or get in the way like scarves do. I’ve long been a fan. Way before they were on-trend ;)    ECY yarn-enabler Debbie is the same. ECY does Shawlography - an MKAL by Stephen West

MKALs (mystery knit-a-longs) are not normally something that I get involved in because I am usually so far behind with new pattern releases that the KAL element is already over by the time I get involved! The closest I normally get is creating yarn packs for others to make wonderful things from. But for some reason this one hit at just the right time (Oct 2021 I think) and when I was in the mood for doing something different. I mentioned it to yarn-enablers Debbie and Claire and it piqued their interest too, so before we knew it we had an ECY Shedquarters...

Project report: Catechu; a lace sweater in Titus 4ply

Ok so this is a real beauty! I wanted to make something *really* nice in Titus 4ply over summer (2021). This yarn (along with most of them!) has had a little bit of an improvement in the merino wool fibre content, making it slightly more plump and even softer (as if it wasn't already!). It's stunning. And then after a big update of it went live I had this batch of strong powdery blue which I had thought would sell and it just didn't. I have since posted about the colour blue on social media and had a fascinating response...

Project report: Tiny Shoots in Bowland 4ply

Tiny Shoots is a light tee designed by Knit Now editor Kate Heppell back in 2013 - it was originally published in Simply Homemade as I don't think Kate was working for Knit Now at that point! It's now available.. in print from us (although I'd like to update the pattern pics in it now!), and digitally from LoveCrafts HERE.  It originally used my Bowland 4ply, which was previously and rather uninspiringly called BFL Sock. I changed it years ago as I decided I didn't want to recommend it as a sock yarn, as although I know a lot of people...
