Hello and thank you for your interest in Eden Cottage Yarns Ltd.

Eden Cottage Yarns is a UK-based yarn company, with an emphasis on simple understated colours with a timeless appeal. Taking inspiration from the natural world, the palette of shades is carefully developed to complement intricate detail in complex patterns, as well as taking a starring role in simpler pieces. Coupled with the range of yarn blends meticulously chosen for their specific qualities, every Eden Cottage Yarns project is a treat on the needles and a delight to wear.

Eden Cottage Yarns consists of owner and dyer Victoria Magnus; office manager and administrative lead Laura Littler working remotely; Claire Turner and Debbie Rowntree both dealing with order processing as well as yarn twisting and labelling; occasional assistant and designer, Victoria’s partner David O’Kelly; and a variety of support staff in the UK. Founded in the Eden Valley in Cumbria, the company is home-based and now situated in Wetherby, West Yorkshire.

Primarily a hand-dyed yarn company from its formation, in 2014 a range of mill-dyed yarns was added to the offering due to high demand. These yarns included the signature Milburn 4ply™ and DK, a luxurious blend of 85% British Bluefaced Leicester and 15% silk; and Whitfell Chunky - 100% baby alpaca. These are designed to allow retailers to re-stock quickly with a good range of repeatable shades to meet demand. Towards the end of 2019 we decided to refresh the Milburn range and discontinued four colourways: Autumn Fields, Damson, Dogwood and Moss. All four replacement colours have been announced and are available to buy on 4ply, three are available on DK with the final colour expected on DK shortly. They are Crocosmia, a rich burnt orange which has a little bit of zing to it, Compost, a soft neutral brown which is lovely on its own but also shows off other colours beautifully too and Dusk, a soft greyish purple which works well with lots of other colours. The fourth colour, Azalea, is a light, zingy pink with a hint of coral. The plan is to keep the palette at 20 colours in total for the foreseeable future.

We are also able to take wholesale orders for a selection of our hand dyed yarns and colourways. For more information about this click HERE.

Shipping

Since the UK left the EU there have been significant challenges to shipping between the two areas. This has caused major delays to processing times at customs in some countries. International parcels of larger values (e.g. over £150) may take up to six weeks to be delivered.

Orders are shipped via courier, which varies dependent upon destination, but will be a reputable company e.g. DPD, FedEx, Parcelforce etc.

For shipping of hand dyed yarn orders please refer to the Wholesale Hand Dyed Yarn document HERE. Orders combining Milburn/Whitfell Chunky and hand dyed yarn will follow the Hand Dyed Yarn process for shipping.

Shipment costs for orders placed through the website will be calculated at checkout based on the following pricing.
