Shawl Love: Sister Syster

The other night we went out for dinner and I wore this shawl, so it reminded me I should feature it on the blog. It's had a lot of compliments at shows as well - it's called Sister Syster and is by Asa Tricosa. As you can see, it's a clever design. It flows both in design and to wear, thanks to the crossing cables both in the body and along the beautifully structured edging. It requires 800-900 yards, so with 218yds per 50g ball of Milburn 4ply (which is what this one is made in) you'll need four or five...

New kits: Tunny

Love to crochet? Here's a little hat/beret I think you'll like.. This is Tunny from our Bletchley Collection by Joanne Scrace, which was released in December 2014 and continues to be popular.  The original hat sample, which you can see on the Ravelry pattern page HERE was made in Milburn 4ply (that's the superwash BFL/silk) with Rust (main colour), Harvest Gold, and Night Sky (contrast colours). Because they're pretty together.. wouldn't you...

Pattern: Buccaneer

Today I'm wearing my Buccaneer, so I thought I'd tell you about it. It's also pertinent because it's by Justyna Lorkowska, who has also just released Piccadilly in conjunction with Loop London, and that uses ECY Hayton 4ply, so there's a link! Buccaneer is worked end-to-end, mostly in garter stitch, with two stripe sections. For those stripe sections you can either pick chevron stripes or wave stripes. I went for the wave stripes.. (We took our photos at Malham in the Yorkshire Dales). I was after a dusky, romantic sort of palette, so my main colour is Hayton 4ply in Compost,...

ECY news

I have happy news today which I'm excited to share with you: following a lot of correspondence and number crunching, I've got us better pricing on our mill dyed yarns - as in the cost of them to us. I'm obviously delighted about it, as it means I've just been able to a) reduce the retail prices, b) reduce the wholesale prices, and c) increase the margin that shops will be able to make on the yarns, making them more viable (it's not easy coming up with these numbers!). You can see the newly priced yarns at http://www.edencottageyarns.co.uk     I'm...
