Initially released in 2014, Hencliffe is a large rectangular lace wrap. The lace pattern is similar to that found in Victoria's Willow designs (shawl, hat and mitts) and gives a lightweight fabric with beautiful drape. Hencliffe is perfect for snuggling up in or draping around your shoulders for an elegant cover up.
The pattern previously used our mill dyed Askham 4ply in Blossom but has now been reissued calling for Titus 4ply in Whispering Grass. The silk content of the Titus 4ply adds a bit of shine making this project feel really special. You will need 200g/800m/872yds (usually two skeins) of a 4ply/fingering weight yarn for this wrap.
When we decided to give Hencliffe a make over we thought it would be great to have a fresh new test knit to make sure the instructions were as clear and up to date as possible. Our testers did a great job using lots of different yarns. A few of those projects are shown below.
Tester projects
Judith used Titus 4ply in Campanula.
Elizabeth used Eldwick Lace (mohair/silk 2ply laceweight) in Granny's Bonnet on larger needles and this worked out beautifully.
Fiona used Titus 4ply in Bog Myrtle.
Jo used Titus 4ply in Charcoal. Look at the glorious blue sky in this picture!
Thankyou so much to all of our test-knitters!
