Using Ravelry's Pattern Search

It always strikes me as a great shame when people say they don't know how to use Ravelry.. because the pattern database is SO useful on there. So I thought I'd put together a little tutorial on how to use Ravelry's pattern search. It's based on my own experience, bearing in mind that I used to work in a yarn shop and show people this all the time. If I've missed anything out (I bet there'll be something really obvious) or you have any questions please do comment on here about it. I will keep it as simple as I can,...

December Update Yarn

Today's post is just a preview of tomorrow's update..    After such a grey and wet Autumn, a little colour is welcome.     There are batches of hand dyed Bowland DK in Ash, Woodland, Hazel, Twig, and Marigold.    There are also batches of hand dyed BFL Sock in Compost, Larch, Falling Leaves, and Tarn.    The Whitfell DK in Steel finally arrived - pre-orders went out earlier this week, but the rest of this batch will be available in this update. There is a limited quantity for the moment!    You'll notice these balls look bigger than the balls...

Yey for grey!

Happy news! The Whitfell DK in Steel is finally here. We have to label it all, and then the pre-ordered yarn will go out tomorrow morning..    ..The rest of the remaining yarn will be in Sunday's update at 12 noon. I have a very limited quantity, and I'm not sure how long it'll take to get more.     So.. I'd better crack on with the labelling!

I felt I had to go for maybe one neutral, but the rest should be not-neutral. These days I might have had the confidence to pick...

Fuchsia Friday

Following my last colour-themed post, when I noticed more yarn/flower colour matching happening in the garden, of course I had to play again. This time it's all about the pink. First up.. The yarn is BFL Sock in Alpine (for Kathy's Knits in Edinburgh) - it's named for the bright pinks of many alpines, e.g. saxifrage, pincushion flowers, and... That being said I have none in flower right now (just given the saxifrage a hair cut), so here it is along with sweet peas:    Hydrangea (this one belonged to my Grandma and is older than me):    And begonia...
