The second accompaniment to the Willow Shawl and the final in the trilogy 🤣. The hat was much more complicated to figure out due to the decreases, and using Stitchmastery software really has been crucial in getting these patterns written up. The pattern has a fitted beanie option and a slouchy option.

If made according to the pattern this hat should use 30-50g of yarn. The full set of three Willow accessories has been designed to use almost all of two skeins of Keld Fingering. This means if you buy the yarn for the shawl you can make the mitts and hat from the leftover yarn!

A large part of pattern development is making various samples to test out sizing and other factors. Here are the various finished samples that were made during the process. These were all made in early 2021, and have been worn loads ever since (writing this in summer 2021). The first one below is so nice and light that it's even been worn in warm weather when it's been annoyingly windy. 😁

Our test-knitters have been amazing and we love all the different effects that come from using different yarns.

Julie used Titus Fingering in Granite. Monochrome is perfect for pairing with any other colours or patterns.

Chris used Keld Fingering in Clematis to match her mitts! This is such a beautiful set.

Amanda used Titus Fingering in Rust. The beanie style is so neat and this colour works so well with Amanda's hair.

Katherine used a sport weight yarn from stash. This pink is stunning!!

Valarie used Bedale 4ply in Red Kite. This yarn has such a beautiful shine to it.

Jean used Brimham 4ply in Harbour and this was to be a gift for a friend.
