ECY yarn inspiration on Flickr - how to use it, why we use it, and more!

You may have seen us talk about "finding images on flickr" in our newsletters, but you may also be wondering what it is and how to use it so we thought what better way to tell you all about it than in a blog post! We love Flickr as it allows us to upload yarn images and then label the colourway names, and organise them into albums. Do you ever see anything on the website and wonder what it means? Well you need wonder no longer!!  Cottage Original - This is our name for OOAK dyelots. They tend to be experimental and if they work out well they may become regular named colourways.* FO - Finished Object. Why we love bluefaced leicester AND merino!

Do you sell British wool? As a British company we use and sell a LOT of British wool - primarily Bluefaced Leicester which is found in our Milburn, Bowland and Harewood yarns. You may have seen these four letters a lot recently: GDPR.. but what is it and why is it relevant to us? It stands for the EU General Data Protection Regulation, and it’s a new set of regulations coming into effect on the 25th of May 2018 designed to protect consumers (so all of us!). Did you know you can search by colour?

For some of you, browsing our website may usually be restricted to yarn released specifically as part of an update. With an increased frequency of updates and stock being available for longer afterwards, it would be understandable to become overwhelmed with choice. You probably already use the Shop Yarn menu with the options to select each yarn by name but what if you have a project in mind for which you have a rough idea of a colour you would like to use but are not that picky about which yarn to use? This is definitely something I struggle with...
