Surprise update..

Today we have a surprise update for you. Except this is a preview for it making it less of a surprise now. Firstly, there are the Tunny kits I mentioned a couple of days ago - they're new, and there'll also be six kits for the pink/grey Holyrood shawl using Bedale 4ply (baby yak/silk). (the above photo is courtesy of Justyna Lorkowska - she designed this beautiful shawl) There's also a sale going on on a wide range of our patterns. Basically I'm wanting to move from A4 to A5 because A5 is so much more practical (for home storage,...

Some thoughts about imaging

Some thoughts about imaging

I occasionally indulge myself in a flat lay. If you don't know what that is, it's an image composed on a flat surface, essentially. The thing is, and this in itself is weird, flat lays have become somewhat controversial within the social media context. Lots of people love them; lots of people think they're overly-curated/styled and too fake. As always, I rather think all view points are valid and there's no right answer. New kits: Tunny

Love to crochet? Here's a little hat/beret I think you'll like.. This is Tunny from our Bletchley Collection by Joanne Scrace, which was released in December 2014 and continues to be popular.  The original hat sample, which you can see on the Ravelry pattern page HERE was made in Milburn 4ply (that's the superwash BFL/silk) with Rust (main colour), Harvest Gold, and Night Sky (contrast colours). We still have some Rust left in the SALE section, however I really wanted something made up in Steel,   along with Askham 4ply in Ice and Damselfly. Because they're pretty together.. wouldn't you...

Leeds Wool Festival 2016

To start with: thankyou to everyone who came to Leeds Wool Festival last weekend. It was a brilliant show - busy, friendly, and happy. As you know, I love Armley Mills, so it was an absolute joy just to spend time there, but add to that the lovely atmosphere of the show and it was just a really good day out. Lots of people commented on my top hat - I bought it at Leeds Steampunk Market at Armley Mills last year, and have decorated it with strips of silk fabric (the pink is hand dyed.. obvs). There were lambs outside...

This week at ECY

This week at ECY

Another hectic week rolls by.. there's been a lot of yarn, as always. The amazingly good drying weather helped. It makes the laborious tasks (tying, twisting, and labelling) a lot more enticing when they afford the opportunity to sit outside and do them. It's not new this week but is still pretty new - I finally made myself a proper blush shade. I've been meaning to for ages, but somehow never got around to it. I love dusky pinks and apricots - well anything dusky really, so now I've got a proper blush I think it widens the palette. It...
