Milburn 4ply and DK in Dogwood - not just for Christmas! ❤️

Our beautiful classic red, Dogwood, was initially a colour found on Whitfell DK. Due to its popularity and the discontinuing of the base we wanted it to live on and so it was included in the fourth wave of new colours of Milburn 4ply. As alluded to in the title, this is definitely a very festive red, evocative of holly berries and the suits of jolly men, but we don't think it should be confined to the winter months!   Designs using Dogwood These are patterns where the colourway featured in the photos, and called for in the pattern is Dogwood. 😍...

Damson desires 💜💜💜

One of the original five shades of Milburn 4ply introduced in 2013, Damson has been a firm favourite ever since. That was until the introduction of Black Tulip in the third wave of colours anyway. Unfortunately we think it was actually a bit too close to Damson and it quickly eclipsed it in popularity! It now feels like quite an overlooked colourway and so I wanted to show it some love and remind you all how wonderful it really is!    Designs using Damson Back in 2014, The Bletchley Collection was released as a collaboration between Joanne Scrace and Eden...

The Drift Collection... four years on! We revisit an ECY classic.

I (Victoria) still worked alone at that point, and producing a quite large collection from loads of different designers, whilst still running the business, was a huge challenge. Bluefaced Leicester: all your woolly and sheep questions answered with Hill Top Farm!

Bluefaced Leicester is one of our favourite wools here at ECY which is why our signature Milburn 4ply and DK yarns just had to be made using it. These noble sheep are fascinating and so we felt like now was a good time to share this love with you and give you a bit of insight into animals behind this highly sought-after fibre. I could think of noone better to help me with this than my friend Leigh, the voice of Hill Top Farm in Malham, also known as @hilltopfarmgirl”. Leigh farms with her partner Neil Heseltine, whose family have farmed in Malham...

Preview of Friday's hand dyed yarn update: Bowland 4ply

Here's the second yarn in Friday's update (Friday the 30th of June at 8pm).. this is a yarn that should be very familiar to most of you as BFL Sock. However... it has always bugged me that I never came up with a better name for this yarn. It's daft really because I've had Bowland DK for years, and it never occurred to me that the 4ply version of the same yarn might be Bowland 4ply. Anyway... it is now!  I've updated it in Ravelry and you can see all the projects made in it over the years HERE. Moving...
