Laverton shawl colour combinations
We have a very exciting pattern release coming soon which uses a combination of Carlisle Fingering and Nateby 4ply held double with Eldwick Lace to give a soft, snuggly cuddle of a shawl. In readiness for the release we have put together some suggestions for colourways which we think would create stunning shawls. For each combination the colourways will be listed in the following order, Carlisle Fingering, Eldwick Lace, Nateby 4ply mini skein. We have a collection on the website which has all three of these yarns arranged in the same order which you can see HERE. The first...
Neutral colours at Eden Cottage Yarns: why we love them and which ones to look out for!
Can we talk about neutral colours for a moment? Firstly, what constitutes a neutral? For me it’s a colour that isn’t leaning towards any particular colour group, if that makes sense. I’ve reported them over and over and over - please if you see these report them as spam if nothing else, and don’t give them any engagement (likes or comments). I’m now following Louise Tilbrook's lead and using less-known hashtags, e.g. #knitsnotbots #ukknitters #creativesofinstagram #knittersofravelry #crochetnotbots and more (Louise has lots of good suggestions). By doing that we can all connect with genuine accounts. After posting this ^^ on...

Ever wondered what terms like semi-solid, variegated, or OOAK mean? Hopefully this blog post will help explain and guide you through the myriad of hand dyed yarns that are available now. Firstly let me tell you a bit about production of hand dyed yarn, which will give you some context. It arrives from the mill in un-dyed skeins, meaning that the wool is not bleached or anything, it’s simply in its natural colour (in this case cream). When they process it they wind it into skeins (also known as hanks), and add a few ties to keep the skeins neat....
