Reintroducing Bowland DK - British Bluefaced Leicester at its best!

Bowland DK is one of my longest-stocked yarns and has been with me since the very beginning of ECY in 2011!    Like the other siblings in the Bowland range, Bowland DK is pure superwash British Bluefaced Leicester (BFL). This wool is quintessentially British and isn't produced on a commercial scale anywhere else, so with a limited supply and ever-high demand it can be pretty costly. However, there's a reason it's always in high demand - it is so soft as well as being lustrous and shiny, and hard wearing too.  As with many other types of wool, there are...

Bowland Aran: Projects and Patterns using our British Bluefaced Leicester yarn

This blog post is designed as a useful resource for inspiration for a specific yarn. There are projects that use it, and patterns that call for it. It's so handy to have all this in one place!  Just FYI - there are no links to Ravelry here. We've linked to patterns and projects that are available to purchase/view elsewhere. If they're only available on Ravelry we will say that, but not link to it.  This gorgeous superwash wool has quickly become a favourite - it's super-soft, a bit woolly, and silky. Bowland Aran is ideal for such a wide range...

Bowland DK: Projects and Patterns using our bluefaced leicester DK yarn

It occurred to us that it might be really useful to have an ECY way to browse patterns and projects made using specific yarns, for inspiration and ideas. It's one of those things where once you think of it it seems blatantly obvious 🙈🤣  Just FYI - there are no links to Ravelry here. We've linked to patterns and projects that are available to purchase/view elsewhere.  Bowland DK truly is an ECY favourite - it's super-soft, smooth, and silky. It's ideal for such a wide range of knitting/crochet projects - being machine washable plus next-to-skin soft means it's perfect for babies...

Introducing Azalea: a new shade of Milburn

Nearly two years ago (!) we announced that four shades of Milburn would be replaced. We are so excited to now announce that the final new shade is Azalea. Azalea is a light, zingy pink with a hint of coral. You may be wondering about the choice of another pink to add to the palette but I feel like this is a proper pinky pink. Althaea is a much softer dusky pink and Bramble is a mid-tone purply pink so I think this fits really well in the middle of these shades.  Here is how Azalea looks with other colours. For more...

Introducing Dusk - the latest shade in the Milburn palette 💜

So... we have a beautiful new Milburn colourway!! We have been planning and working on replacing four colours for quite a while now - at least 12 months I think; possibly more (I've lost track). We have now done three!  First to sell out was Dogwood which was replaced with Crocosmia, as this seemed like a close-ish swap. Crocosmia was a tried and tested colour that proved popular on the mill dyed Askham 4ply and as a hand dyed colourway. Plus I love orange and there wasn't an orange on the palette so this felt like a no-brainer.  Autumn Fields DK...
