Introducing Bowland Lace: our new BFL laceweight yarn

We are proud of all our yarns, but of course our British wool ones are a particular source of joy. Our Bowland and Milburn yarn ranges have been an intergral part of our offering for years, with Bowland going right back to the beginning of ECY in 2011. Bowland is 100% superwash British Bluefaced Leicester wool; and Milburn is that but with silk blended in - plus it's mill-dyed (also in Yorkshire). I am quite cautious about adding new laceweight yarns to our range as they are not as popular as 4ply/DK yarns (understandably!). However... when a laceweight version of...

Lowther Lace: Patterns and Projects using our alpaca/silk fluffy laceweight yarn

It occurred to us that it might be really useful to have an ECY way to browse patterns and projects made using specific yarns, for inspiration and ideas. It's one of those things where once you think of it it seems blatantly obvious 🙈🤣  Just FYI - there are no links to Ravelry here. We've linked to patterns and projects that are available to purchase/view elsewhere.  Lowther Lace is a sumptuous blend of baby suri alpaca and mulberry silk. Hence the fluffy baby alpaca/silk yarn came along. I did a YouTube video about it which you can watch HERE if...

Eldwick Lace: projects and patterns using our mohair/silk fluff yarn

This blog post is designed as a useful resource for inspiration for a specific yarn. There are projects that use it, and patterns that call for it. It's so handy to have all this in one place!  Just FYI - there are no links to Ravelry here. We've linked to patterns and projects that are available to purchase/view elsewhere. If they're only available on Ravelry we will say that, but not link to it.    The first part of this blog post will give you patterns that specifically call for Eldwick Lace and the second part shows you our projects using this yarn....

Why would I want that fluffy stuff? Here are all your mohair questions answered!

I thought I’d tell you a bit more about our mohair/silk laceweight yarn, Eldwick Lace. We’ve had lots of questions about it so it seems sensible to try and answer them. There’s a lot to tell, so I’ve broken it down into common questions so that if you don’t want to read it all you can hopefully find the information you’re looking for. I hope it’s helpful!   What is mohair? Firstly let me tell you about the fibres. Mohair can take more than one form, which is the same for more fibres. What we use is kid mohair, which...
