Keld Aran: Projects and Patterns using this merino linen yarn

This blog post is designed as a useful resource for inspiration for a specific yarn base. There are projects that use it, and patterns that call for it. It's so handy to have all this in one place!  Just FYI - there are no links to Ravelry here. We've linked to patterns and projects that are available to purchase/view elsewhere. If they're only available on Ravelry we will say that, but not link to it.  Keld Aran is a beautiful yarn - it is next-to-skin soft as you might imagine from the merino; and the linen content adds a gorgeous visual...

Tempo 4ply: projects and patterns using our original merino/nylon sock yarn

It occurred to us that it might be really useful to have an ECY way to browse patterns and projects made using specific yarns, for inspiration and ideas. It's one of those things where once you think of it it seems blatantly obvious 🙈🤣  Just FYI - there are no links to Ravelry here. We've linked to patterns and projects that are available to purchase/view elsewhere.  Tempo is a brilliant all-round 4ply sock yarn - it softens considerably after washing for next-to-skin wear. With the nylon content being paired with a more coarse/less fine merino fibre, it is especially hard wearing...

Introducing Pendle Sport - our first sport weight yarn in extrafine merino

Pendle Sport is the same super soft and bouncy extrafine merino found in our other Pendle yarns. It is robustly structured but also has some drape (depending on the gauge it's used at), and is lovely and soft and smooth. Our yarn testers found that as a sport weight yarn this can also be substituted in for 4ply/fingering weight yarns assuming you can make gauge. It has great stitch definition and works beautifully for cables. The stats: 100% Superwash Extrafine Merino100g300m/328yds3 - 5mm needles (US 2.5 - 8)3 - 5mm hook13 WPIIdeally handwash but should also survive a gentle machine...

If they're only available on Ravelry we will say that, but not link to it.  Brimham Bio Fingering is a light fingering weight yarn and is a blend of superwash extrafine merino with biodegradable nylon. Biodegradable nylon is as durable and...

Milburn DK - can I use it for garments?

We quite often get asked if Milburn DK is ok for garments - with being a lustrous and silky yarn I think people assume that it will be too heavy, or will drop, or not hold its shape. Or perhaps there's another reason that I've forgotten! Anyway, whatever the reason for the question, I can certainly answer it with a resounding yes. 😄 I've made a few, and I found that it didn't do anything unexpected. It didn't lose its shape or even particularly grow. I suppose if you blocked it hung up then yes the weight of the wool...
