Brioche.. Using Continental knitting & purling

A short while ago I posted an Instagram video of me working brioche. Why? Because I knit and purl using my left hand for the yarn, ie. Continental style, and I t's particularly well-suited to brioche leading to a very fluid and fast movement compared to working it with the yarn in my right hand. I really rate Continental knitting anyway, as it's far faster and better for avoiding RSI. It takes a bit of perseverance to transfer from British style knitting (ie 'throwing') to Continental style knitting (ie 'picking'), but it's very worthwhile, especially if it makes the difference...

Update preview: May 2016

Just a quick preview of what will be in today's update, which goes up at http://www.edencottageyarns.com at 12 noon UK time.  Firstly, we've not been able to get our superwash wool/nylon blend, Tempo 4ply, for absolutely ages, but finally it is back. Here's one of each colour: There's everybody's favourite: Titus 4ply. This week..

Since this week has been particularly busy and stressful, but has included so much yarn, I thought I'd best share it with the world. It'd be rude not to, really. It's been gloriously sunny for a lot of the week. I've been dyeing a large volume of yarn, as well as dealing with a load of other stuff. My Instagram feed does feature the pretty stuff, but behind the scenes life is full of the usual pressures, plus there's all the hard work that running any business involves. A few neutrals

I just thought I'd share a few of my neutrals with you (since noticing I have most of them in stock for a change)..   Top: Linen and Natural Second row down: Whispering Grass and Driftwood Third row down: Compost, Bark and Stone  Bottom row: Silver Birch, Slate, Ash and Steel That's all!  Thankyou for your patience whilst we've been away at Edinburgh Yarn Festival which was quickly followed by a trip to a&e, causing us to be out of action for about ten days.
