Hayton 4ply: Projects and Patterns using our merino, cashmere, nylon blend

It occurred to us that it might be really useful to have an ECY way to browse patterns and projects made using specific yarns, for inspiration and ideas. It's one of those things where once you think of it it seems blatantly obvious 🙈🤣  Just FYI - there are no links to Ravelry here. We've linked to patterns and projects that are available to purchase/view elsewhere.  Hayton 4ply is a beautiful mix of smooth, bouncy merino, a little nylon to make it more hard wearing, and a dash of cashmere for the ultimate luxury. This three-fold yarn spun to a 4ply...

Project ideas for DK Yarnlings™

As well as our 4ply Yarnlings we have DK ones too. These are 10g balls of yarn as we thought that doing 5g of DK seemed too small to be worth it. That means they have approximately 22m in each one - that will vary according to the yarn base though.  Here are some ideas as to what to do with them (aside from just keep them looking cute in a jar)...   Quadratic by David O'Kelly  (Knitting) The original Yarnling project!! I also realised during testing that I hadn't followed my own pattern for some early samples! 🙈 A very valuable lesson in reading the pattern rather than assuming you know...

Cat Knits by Marna Gilligan of 'an caitin beag' (she of sinister cat fame!) is a book of 16 knit designs all featuring Marna's signature kitties on a mixture of garments and accessories. It's a wide-ranging book actually - it feels like there's more than 16 items in there. Each chapter covers a different yarn weight, so there's a 4ply section, and DK section, an Aran section, and a Chunky section. Each section has a garment AND matching accessories included, and they range from nice simple textures, to stranded colourwork (like sinister cats), to intarsia. Intarsia! I swear that this...

The Drift Collection... four years on! We revisit an ECY classic.

Today marks four years since the release of our Drift Collection! Can you believe it?! I know some of you will have been involved in test-knitting for it and will know how big a deal it was for us. I (Victoria) still worked alone at that point, and producing a quite large collection from loads of different designers, whilst still running the business, was a huge challenge. I did most of the photography myself (I couldn't afford to do anything else!), but did have a paid tech editor, and proof reader, of course. Meanwhile I was also still dyeing yarn,...
