Introducing Keld Aran - a beautiful new merino/linen addition

Well this is exciting! We have a brand new yarn, and it is *beautiful*! You may already (hopefully!) be familiar with our Keld Fingering yarn, which is 90% superwash merino and 10% linen.. and now we have the Aran version! This iteration of it is spun as a two-ply, which will give it better strength for a thicker yarn (a thicker singles yarn isn't usually a great idea - they tend to pill) but whilst also allowing the fibres to bloom and be all soft and lovely.  Just like its sister, this yarn has that unique and rustic appearance from...

Introducing Azalea: a new shade of Milburn

Nearly two years ago (!) we announced that four shades of Milburn would be replaced. We are so excited to now announce that the final new shade is Azalea. Azalea is a light, zingy pink with a hint of coral. You may be wondering about the choice of another pink to add to the palette but I feel like this is a proper pinky pink. Althaea is a much softer dusky pink and Bramble is a mid-tone purply pink so I think this fits really well in the middle of these shades.  Here is how Azalea looks with other colours. For more...

Introducing: Titus Fingering-weight merino/silk hand dyed yarn

It’s time to introduce our latest new hand dyed yarn! I have been working on this for a few weeks, making sure that it’s as good as it sounded, so here we are!   The new yarn is Titus Fingering. I’m sure many of you will be familiar with my Titus range - I’ve had Titus 4ply for the full ten years that I’ve been in business. Its name harks back to a time before I started taking name inspiration from local places so it sort of doesn’t fit in with the brand any more, but it’s such an...

Introducing: the need for tweed, with Keswick Fingering and Keswick DK yarns

Introducing… the need for tweed!   At this point you may have already heard of two of our new (for 2020) yarns - Keswick Fingering, and Keswick DK. They debuted in June and I did a Shedcast episode about them, so this blog post is to go with that. It’s not a direct transcript because I find that typed up blog posts work better following their own narrative, but I will make sure I cover everything that I covered in the video in case you cannot watch it.  Firstly, let me tell you exactly what it is - it’s 85%...

Introducing Dusk - the latest shade in the Milburn palette 💜

So... we have a beautiful new Milburn colourway!! We have been planning and working on replacing four colours for quite a while now - at least 12 months I think; possibly more (I've lost track). We have now done three!  First to sell out was Dogwood which was replaced with Crocosmia, as this seemed like a close-ish swap. Crocosmia was a tried and tested colour that proved popular on the mill dyed Askham 4ply and as a hand dyed colourway. Plus I love orange and there wasn't an orange on the palette so this felt like a no-brainer.  Autumn Fields DK...
