Introducing: Keld Fingering; our beautiful new hand dyed merino/linen yarn ❤️

This is a blog post aimed at accompanying our first episode of The Wholly Irregular ECY Shedcast where I introduced a new yarn - Keld Fingering. It’s based on a transcript of the video so I hope it helps! Firstly, here it is on our website: KELD What is it?  So firstly I’ll start by telling you what Keld Fingering is - it’s a beautiful blend of 90% superwash merino with 10% linen, spun as a fingering weight (equivalent to 4ply in thickness) singles yarn. There’s 393 yards/360m to each 100g skein, so it’s a bit shorter than some of...

Why would I want that fluffy stuff? Here are all your mohair questions answered!

I thought I’d tell you a bit more about our mohair/silk laceweight yarn, Eldwick Lace. We’ve had lots of questions about it so it seems sensible to try and answer them. There’s a lot to tell, so I’ve broken it down into common questions so that if you don’t want to read it all you can hopefully find the information you’re looking for. It will also help explain why we don’t have all the yarn all of the time! Anyone who’s been involved in stock management will know how complicated it can be, trying to re-order with a long enough lead time for the item to be produced and shipped to you without losing the momentum...

Want to see our first sparkly yarn??!

This morning I was out in the pouring rain photographing the sparkly yarn I've dyed for Saturday's 7am update... obviously the yarn was kept under the garden brolly but myself & camera ended up stood just outside the edge of it. I had woollies (handknits, obvs) and a waterproof on, and ended up creating a rainhat for my camera out of parcel tape and a sandwich bag. As you do. Anyway, this all means that all of the yarn photos are now up in the Facebook event page for this update, so you can see that HERE. If you mark...

Aaaaand the third new colour is..

..this beautiful soft sandy gold: Autumn Fields. This came off the back of wanting a gold-ish shade, and being inspired by it going nicely against yesterday's colour. It's actually not that easy to photograph, I'm finding. But anyhow. The colour comes from my love of autumn really. Ok, before I say any more I have a confession: I'm fickle when it comes to seasons. I love them all, but get bored of them before they're over. Every year when a new season arrives I say "I LOVE [season]". BUT I still think that late autumn might be my favourite. There's...
