Bowland DK: Projects and Patterns using our bluefaced leicester DK yarn

It occurred to us that it might be really useful to have an ECY way to browse patterns and projects made using specific yarns, for inspiration and ideas. It's one of those things where once you think of it it seems blatantly obvious 🙈🤣  Just FYI - there are no links to Ravelry here. We've linked to patterns and projects that are available to purchase/view elsewhere.  Bowland DK truly is an ECY favourite - it's super-soft, smooth, and silky. It's ideal for such a wide range of knitting/crochet projects - being machine washable plus next-to-skin soft means it's perfect for babies...

Introducing Azalea: a new shade of Milburn

Nearly two years ago (!) we announced that four shades of Milburn would be replaced. We are so excited to now announce that the final new shade is Azalea. Azalea is a light, zingy pink with a hint of coral. You may be wondering about the choice of another pink to add to the palette but I feel like this is a proper pinky pink. Althaea is a much softer dusky pink and Bramble is a mid-tone purply pink so I think this fits really well in the middle of these shades.  Here is how Azalea looks with other colours. For more...

Introducing Dusk - the latest shade in the Milburn palette 💜

So... we have a beautiful new Milburn colourway!! We have been planning and working on replacing four colours for quite a while now - at least 12 months I think; possibly more (I've lost track). We have now done three!  First to sell out was Dogwood which was replaced with Crocosmia, as this seemed like a close-ish swap. Crocosmia was a tried and tested colour that proved popular on the mill dyed Askham 4ply and as a hand dyed colourway. Plus I love orange and there wasn't an orange on the palette so this felt like a no-brainer.  Autumn Fields DK...

Moss - going green with a rich woodland shade of yarn

When the final five colours were added to the Milburn range we knew there was a gap for darker green shades, especially for more autumnal shades. We never imagined that the zingy lime green of Fern would be so much more popular than the rich woodland green of Moss. 🙈 Here's some gorgeous inspiration for you! Hands up who wants to make allllll the things now?! ✋ Designs using Moss Flitcha by Brian Smith This gorgeous textured cowl actually calls for Bowland DK in Moss, but four balls of Milburn DK would be perfect. It looks cosy!   Slouch socks by Anna...

Autumn Fields - yarn with a heart of beautiful soft gold

Autumn Fields is a beautiful soft sandy gold. Introduced in the second wave of colours in late 2016. You can read the blog post from when it was announced HERE. Inspired by Victoria's love of late autumn, this is a soft brown gold rather than an orange/yellow shade, making it really great for pairing with other colours. This great quality may well have been part of its downfall. It works so well with other colours that it hasn't really had an opportunity to shine as a stand-alone. But it should probably not come as a surprise as brown shades seem...
